Sustainable beauty products have earned an opportunity for recognition and further advancement at this summer’s Cosmoprof North America trade show. The event, hosted by Cosmoprof North America in Las Vegas from July 9th-11th, is launching a new awards program to recognize outstanding innovation in the beauty industry in all categories, including sustainability.

The awards program, called Beauty Innovation and Design Awards (or BeautyID), is accepting submissions from design agencies, PR agencies, suppliers and manufacturers for any type of beauty product. Submissions will be judged by representatives from organizations like Barney’s, Clemson University and Estee Lauder on their unique combination of distinctive design and user functionality.

“Cosmoprof North America is one of the most awarded shows that recognizes indie beauty brands, which notoriously innovate with BeautyID-logo-CMYKtheir packaging and formulation,” said Eric Horn, Trade Show Director of Cosmoprof North America. “As such, it was a natural evolution to provide a platform to recognize such creativity.”

The award will be distinct in its support of creative design and trend marketing: “To the participants, the opportunity to be seen and heard by these influential individuals is tremendous. However, what also sets the award apart is not only the recognition it provides, but also the unique prize package that grants winners access to tools that will assist in enhancing future creativity,” said Daniela Ciocan, Marketing Director of Cosmoprof Americas. The winners will be announced on July 10th at the show.

The sustainability category award is evidence of key advancement in the world of sustainable cosmetics. While sustainable and “eco-friendly” cosmetics remain a niche market of the industry, the demand continues to expand as consumers realize how negative impacts of traditional cosmetics can be avoided by choosing plant-based compounds and essences, natural minerals and cruelty-free brands.
