Head north out of Phoenix, up the meandering I-17, and in about an hour you’ll find yourself in a different world. It’s the red rock world of Sedona, where towering sandstone buttresses announce the start of the Mogollon Rim and attract thousands of yearly visitors looking for fresh air and a fresh perspective. This weekend, venture out of Phoenix for a dose of red rock magic at the Sedona Yoga Festival, a unique weekend-long event from March 9th to 12th offering community and clarity under the blue skies and radiant red walls of the Sedona valley.
“For five years running, Sedona Yoga Festival has provided an amazing vibe for Yogis of every level of experience,” says outreach ambassador Leah Linder. Attendees are encouraged to “choose their own adventure” and tune into the building “heartstorm” as they select classes from the online scheduling platform, which include nearly everything from quiet meditation to rockin’ vinyasa. Day and weekend passes are available, along with live digital broadcast of sessions by several distinguished teachers, including Tao-Porchon Lynch, the oldest living yoga teacher in the world. Additionally, the “Sedona Yoga Festival Gives Back” program offers a PTSD/Trauma Resiliency Training as the centerpiece of this fourth year of community building.
“Allow us to provide the sanctified space for you to rest…rejuvenate…recharge…learn…and grow. SYF2017 will provide the AWESOMESAUCE that you can dip into for the entire year; and let me assure you, it comes in a wide variety of flavors!” said festival founder Marc Titus.
For those who aren’t entirely enthusiastic about a full weekend of yoga, there will also be photography workshops, healthful cooking classes, hiking and performances by music artists like Nahko, Medicine for the People and Dioxn’s Violin. Family-friendly kids’ yoga and activities will also be available for the little ones, and the 31 shops, art and culture galleries, wineries, breweries, and dining experiences featured by the venue assures there will be something for everyone. “No two attendees’ experiences will be the same,” says Linder.
As Linder emphasizes, “the entire team at Sedona Yoga Festival looks forward to seeing YOU, willing and ready, prepared to transform, to create inner peace and to help others. Join in the celebration of consciousness evolution at SYF2017!”
This year’s festival will be hosted by the Collective Sedona and is within walking distance of the Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock and Sedona Golf Resort.
