Tucson-based fashion designer Laura Tanzer won the Phoenix Fashion Week Emerging Designer Competition held at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale last Friday.
“Winning Emerging Designer of the Year is recognition for the hard work my team and I put in, and will dramatically boost our brand awareness. That brand awareness should help us develop new relationships with boutiques where clientèle can enjoy and experience the quality and fit of my designs first-hand!” Tanzer said.
The Phoenix Fashion Week is the leading fashion industry event in the Southwest, with the core purpose of building sustainable brands from the ground up while pushing the Arizona fashion industry forward. Laura Tanzer, which has the mission “Modern Clothing, Sustainably Made” and utilizes the three pillars of sustainability: society, economy, and environment to efficiently engineer natural, nontoxic and well-fitting clothing for the discerning woman, certainly fits the criteria to gain the Phoenix Fashion Week’s patronage.
“I’m very proud of Laura Tanzer and the collection she built this year, and more impressed with how she is going to continue to push Arizona fashion forward,” said Brian Hill, Executive Director of Phoenix Fashion Week.
As the Phoenix Fashion Week Emerging Designer of the Year, Laura Tanzer can market and sell selected Tanzer designs to 88 million viewers on the Evine cable, satellite and broadcast television network, introducing their aesthetic to a whole new clientèle.
The Laura Tanzer collection carries a Made in USA label that represents quality in its garments, which are made by skilled sewing technicians. The brand not only focuses on beautiful design but also a sustainable economic path that includes creating local and national skilled jobs, minimizing wasteful practices, timeliness to market, and pride of craft.
