If you’re aiming for a healthier you in 2017, probiotics should definitely be on the menu. With approximately 70 percent of the immune system located in the gut, it’s important to keep those little bugs in healthy balance. Kombucha tea can do just that. Before you wrinkle your nose (like Jen did!), read on about some very drinkable, organic, raw, good-for-your-gut teas!

reviveRevive Kombucha | hibiscus brew herbal refresher

He Said: This Revive drink seems to be missing one thing…the kombucha zing. It was refreshing and sweet with a tasty hibiscus flavor, but it was lacking that bite I’ve come to enjoy when I drink kombucha. If you’re new to kombucha, this is a good place to start.

He gave it: ★★★★

She Said: Wow, I didn’t know kombucha could taste like that! It reminded me of Sprite, without being sickeningly sweet. The hibiscus lends a slightly tart flavor, and for those who know kombucha, this one had virtually no vinegar taste. Excellent!

She gave it: ★★★★★

humm kombuchaHumm Kombucha | strawberry lemonade

He Said: Now, that’s more like it. This Humm kombucha has the classic vinegar bite that I’m used to, plus a sweet strawberry finish. I didn’t notice much of a lemonade taste, but that was quite alright. It has lovely effervescence as well.

He gave it: ★★★★

She Said: This drink is delightfully fizzy (less so than a soda) and sweet. I definitely tasted strawberry with a hint of sour lemonade and a light vinegar finish. If you’re feeling sluggish, you might want to sip one of these – the B12 content will have you bouncing off the walls in no time!

She gave it: ★★★★

soma coffee boochaSOMA | coffee-boocha

He Said: When it’s time to clean the calcium out of our coffee maker, we run a vinegar and water mixture through it. It comes out slightly brown from the residual coffee in the machine. I have no doubt that the cleanser water tastes exactly like this kombucha. Save your money.

He gave it:

She Said: As a coffee lover, I couldn’t pass this one up. I’ve never heard of “sprouted” coffee, let alone sprouted coffee kombucha. Turns out, I should have kept on walking. It tasted like Coke gone wrong, with a slight coffee aftertaste. Kudos for creativity, but just “no-ma.”

She gave it: ★★

live kombucha colaLIVE Kombucha | culture cola

He Said: Just to be clear, this is not a cola. If you try this expecting Pepsi, you will hate it. That being said, I really enjoyed this LIVE kombucha. The standard kombucha vinegary zing is the first flavor that hit my palate, then a smooth cola taste creeps in behind it and leaves a nice aftertaste. The only part I didn’t like was the slight herbal stevia flavor.

He gave it: ★★★★

She Said: Tea, natural flavors and stevia is all it takes to make this cola-like beverage. I wouldn’t say it’s going to cure you of your cola habit, but it would be a good place to start. It was very fizzy with a flavor very close to cola and a light vinegar finish. An interesting take on kombucha.

She gave it: ★★★★

brew dr.Brew Dr. Kombucha | clear mind

He Said: This Brew Dr. kombucha was exceptionally…average. It had the classic fermented green tea taste, with some very subtle hints of rosemary and mint. The exceptional part is that they achieve this flavor without adding juice like most other kombuchas on the market.

He gave it: ★★★★

She Said: The ingredient list almost sounds like a roast chicken recipe, but I sipped it down with an open mind. Thankfully, this did not taste like an herb garden but more like a crisp, refreshing citrus drink. Not sure if it’ll clear my head, but it’ll clear something else! Squeaky clean guts, oh yeah!

She gave it: ★★★★
