Led by CEO Thomas Gorny, Nextiva, a cloud-based VoIP communications company based in Scottsdale, Arizona, set out to reduce its footprint, physical space, and energy usage, and to implement a truly “green” culture─from energy savings and recycling to healthy snacks and wellness programs for employees, Gorny believes it’s good stewardship for a company to lead in sustainable efforts.
Entering its fourth year, Nextiva partnered with Carbonfund.org, adopting the CarbonFree® Partner program to demonstrate its commitment to fight against global warming. The CarbonFree program supports third-party validated renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation projects in the U.S. and abroad to reduce CO2 emissions and accelerate the transition to a clean energy future.
More recently, Nextiva enhanced their internal recycling program by providing reusable cups, minimized the use of paper products, and began to incorporate eco-effective technology in its data centers.

Health and wellness perks extend to employees in Nextiva’s community room, which is filled with stress-relief activities such as ping-pong, pool or video games and couches to relax and read a book. Or, for those who find being on-the-go more relaxing, bicycles are also available for lunch breaks. Healthy treats such as fruit, yogurt and juice are provided for employees, and a dedicated kitchen is available for those on vegetarian and kosher diets.
