This May, Chandler will be hosting its 2nd annual Trashion Fashion Show. The show will feature clothing pieces made from reused materials that many people wouldn’t think could be transformed into something fashionable, such as garbage bags and old newspapers. The event will be held on Saturday, May 21st, at 1 p.m. inside the Chandler Fashion Center in the GAP wing, between Sears and the food court.
The show will feature 24 local contestants who will be competing to win the most fashionable garment made from at least 75 percent recyclable or reused materials. All contestants were picked from the Chandler area and split into different age categories, ranging from 10-18+. The designers also have the option to either pick their model or wear their own creation on the runway.
Chandler’s Solid Waste Services Division is coordinating this free event. Jennifer Campbell, Chandler Fashion Center’s Marketing Manger, said in an official press release: “Chandler Fashion Center is honored to be partnering with the City of Chandler as the host site for the Trashion Fashion Show where we can bring unique fashions and education about recycling to our guests.”
